Even if the world were perfect, young people would still find plenty to complain about.
Being young and left-wing go hand-in-hand, especially if you’re female (but that’s for another post). You can call it a law of nature. Youth can’t entirely be blamed for being this way, though. When you are young, you have a great need to be great. You want to be a hero. You want your name to go down in history. You want to be a savior. There is nothing wrong with wanting to make the world a better place, but the problem that usually follows this desire is the fact that when you are young, you don’t understand anything.
It’s too easy for youth to believe they are the first generation to have their ideas for how to change the world. They rarely understand that their ideas are nothing new.
It all makes perfect sense when you compare the definitions of “left-wing” with “right-wing.”
Here is the definition of left-wing politics:
Left-wing politics supports social equality and egalitarianism, often in critique of social hierarchy. Left-wing politics typically involves a concern for those in society whom its adherents perceive as disadvantaged relative to others as well as a belief that there are unjustified inequalities that need to be reduced or abolished.
In other words, to be left-wing is to find things in life unfair, and wanting to make things more equal for everyone.
Here is the definition of right-wing politics:
Right-wing politics supports the view that certain social orders and hierarchies are inevitable, natural, normal, or desirable, typically supporting this position on the basis of natural law, economics, or tradition.
I interpret right-wing politics to be summarized as accepting differences. It is accepting realities that no one can change, or should even want to change, such as the fact that men and women are different, that humans are not the same as other animals, or that Mother Nature is literally constantly trying to kill you.
Being young makes it possible, even inevitable, to believe that the universe can be one big paradise, if only we chose to make it that way. This is why most youth are left-wing. They view the world through the lens of utopia. Most times, it is only when you get older that you realize the world will never be paradise. Even more so, when you get older you realize that left-wing ideas usually cause the opposite effect as desired.
Notice how feminists talk about equality, but celebrate persecution of men. Notice how “anti-racists” talk about equality, but celebrate persecution of whites (and sometimes Asians). Notice in any given socialist country, the people are starving while those in the government live luxuriously.
It is more than typical of young people to point at something and say, “It’s all your fault!” And this is the essence of being left-wing in the first place. “Someone is disadvantaged, therefore, we need to bring down their oppressors!”
Not to mention, young people are far more impulsive and reckless. When you mix the nature of youth into politics, the result is inevitably something authoritarian and poorly thought out.
I am not saying that only young people are left-wing; I am only explaining why it’s more than typical of young people to be left-wing. In my own experience, anyone above the age of 40 who still holds left-wing ideas is either stupid or evil. You should know plenty about human nature by the time you’re old enough to be a grandparent.
Just like how it’s easy to believe in magic when you don’t understand physics or chemistry, in the same vein, it’s easy to believe in communism when you don’t understand human nature.
When I say ‘communism,’ I don’t only mean in a fiscal sense. For example, something we’re seeing increasingly these days is a belief in social communism, in which no one ever gets their feelings hurt, everyone ought to find everyone equally sexually attractive, and a person’s sex is whatever they want it to be in any given moment. So, communism is not strictly an economic ideology, it can be, and currently is being, applied to everything. And as with all things left-wing, those who follow this ideology demonstrate how and why it can never work.
No one proves human nature more than those who don’t understand it, like young left-wingers.
